This was Ashley’s first time getting professional photos of herself. Despite that she warmed up quickly and I got some great photos out of her.

Chelsea is an Irish Step Dancer. She’s been dancing since she was a little kid and it is very apparent that she is passionate about the dance. For our shoot we started in NW Portland, then made our way up to the Rose Garden in Washington Park and then finished at Pittock Mansion.Chelsea was a natural in front of the camera and rocked her session as both a redhead and a blond!
Here’s what Chelsea had to say about her session:
“My senior pictures with Isaac were nothing less than spectacular. Isaac was very fun, professional and a perfect person for the job. I enjoyed every moment and every location that we embarked upon. I quickly became very comfortable in front of the camera and enjoyed being a ‘model’ for the day. With all the picturesque locations; from Northwest Portland to Washington Park to the beautiful Pittock Mansion, I knew that I was going to have a difficult time choosing my favorite pictures.”

If only I could control the weather and have every shoot day be like the following one. These photos are of Morgan, a 2010 senior.
Here’s what Morgan had to say about her session:
“My senior picture experience with Isaac couldn’t have been better. I really enjoyed how relaxed the shoot was, while still remaining very professional. It didn’t take long before I got more comfortable in front of the camera, due to Isaac’s positive attitude and the photogenic locations of NW Portland. When the shoot was done, I walked away knowing that there would be plenty of great pictures to choose from.”
I photographed Krystal and her son Logan at a park out in Beaverton. Logan loved the camera and I had no trouble getting him to give me his best smile. At times he even told me where I should stand to take the photos.
On July 31st I shot the Portland Real Estate Industry Social. The event is hosted by Josh Leake of Plum Tree Mortgage, Inc. It was held in one of the pent houses atop the Ladd Tower in downtown SW Portland. From the top of the Ladd Tower you can see some pretty incredible views. Once again I shot a short video of the event as well.
Emelia is another one of my awesome 2010 senior portrait reps! We had a great time shooting around NW Portland. She has a gorgeous natural smile and was a blast to work with. If you’re a friend of Emelia and a 2010 senior be sure to ask her about her senior portrait experience. Also make sure you get a promo card from her for a special deal towards your senior portraits.
I’m currently packing, getting ready to leave for a week long camping trip on the coast. Before I take off though here’s a sneak preview of a very fun session I had yesterday with another one of my senior portrait reps, Emelia. I’m currently booking photo sessions for 2010 seniors. You can view my rates here. Contact me at isaac@kovalproductions.com or by phone (503)307-4184 for availability and more info.
About a month ago my roommate Mike shaved off his beard and rocked the handlebar mustache for a day. In honor of that we went out last minute and did a test shoot of him in soccer gear.
For the last photo with the ball flying through the air I had a softbox camera right to hit Mike. Then I also had a speedlight set up camera left to fill in the ball as it was out of the hot zone of the softbox.
For awhile I’ve been shooting more with lights than with natural light. Now that summer like weather is here I’ve opted more for using natural light. There’s just something about natural light that strobes or speedlights can’t touch (that is when it’s a nice day).
